Arrow Ale - It Has Never Failed This City
**Update** I thought it might be cool to get this design printed on a sticker that you could actually put on a beer bottle so had a couple of prototypes printed.

To my surprise when they arrived the few had turned into many as the printing company had printed 10 times as many as I ordered !

However their mistake is your good fortune, I have put these up on my Limited Editions Store and the first 50 people that use the discount code "ARROWZ70" will get their sticker for free !!

What do vigilantes in Starling City drink ? As you can see they drink Arrow Ale !

An idea I had when waiting for the second half of season 3 to start after the Christmas break.

I had an idea a while ago to recreate the arrow that is now part of the season 3 opening credits, that along with the idea for a pun / motto with Ale and Fail in it.

The original motto was going to be "We have Ale'd this city" but ultimately decided against that as it might have been too much of a stretch.

I have submitted this to some t-shirt voting sites, I very much appreciate any and all votes -

Reddit Doctor Who T-Shirt Competition
A little while ago I saw that the Doctor Who subreddit were having a competition so I thought I'd have a go.

The competition is to design a t-shirt for the r/DoctorWho subreddit that will be sold in aid of Doctors Without Borders.

So if you like my design or want to see what other designers have done, visit the competition page and upvote at least one of the designs to show support.

If you want to read the original competition details this is the page to visit

Dominion Senate Houses
After watching the very satisfying conclusion to the first season of Dominion I have to say I was impressed by the whole story arc and multi dimensional characters.

While watching I loved trying to spot all the emblems that represent the senate houses, I managed to find all 11 in the end, although one came from the SyFy Welcome to Vega website . Not 100% happy with all of them, but they are the best I think I can get based on the limited screenshots I have managed to grab.

I sent a few tweets out with the simple version (below) and the Dominion Fan Site DominionFans.com asked me for a higher resolution version, with the names of the houses, for their fan art pages. The first problem is that I don't yet know all the house names, and I certainly don't know which emblems relate to which, so I have only added the ones I am sure of for now.

I decided to create something else to be a little more arty, and the design above is the result. It features the senate house emblems and the logo of the Vega military. I'll update it when more senate names / emblems can be matched.

One final thing or now is that I have created a new Dominion category page on this website so you can simply jump to all the posts relating to it that are posted here.

It is going head to head with a Walking Dead t-shirt design, so any support would be appreciated.

Below is the original version of this, originally conceived as a poster design, but never put into production.

LOST 2014 in 3D !
This is another thing I created for LOST 2014, although I kept it as a surprise until I got to Hawaii as I wanted to present Kelly (event organiser), Jo Garfein and Jorge Garcia with what I had created.

The idea was simple, turn this flat image (left) into a 3D object and get it printed.

Problem, first I needed a 3D model to print, and although there are a few models out there of the DHARMA logo that are free to use, I wanted this one to have LOST on one side and 2014 on the other, which none would have. The second issue is finding someone to actually print it.

The first problem I tackled by using Adobe Photoshop and teaching myself how to use its 3D capabilities, someone I had met through all the Fringe and Almost Human activity over the last few years works for Adobe and regularly posts articles and information about its 3D capabilities on Twitter (@Nikolai3D), he gave me some great tips and pointers.

I wouldn't call myself an expert yet, but I did manage to come up with a model that looked pleasing to me, I worked out that the 3D object although simple in 2D was made up of many parts that needed aligning in the 3D world.

Next was the printing of the object, after searching around I found Hubs. They are a central website resource, where you can upload your model and get quotes from many independent people that have 3D printing equipment around the country.

The first people I looked at were based in Sheffield, and as I was going there on business regularly and the printer was just down the road from the office I asked them to print it.

They produced two samples one in Resin (Left) and one in ABS Plastic (Right), these are test prints before going ahead with the full order I wanted and the Resin one looked good, but the plastic one looked fairly poor quality.

I agreed to ahead with the resin version and waited for my order to be completed, unfortunately I waited a long time and after several email exchanges I was told they would not be able to produce the requested order.

So on to plan B, there was also a 3D hub near to where I live so I contacted them for a quote. Again I asked for a test piece to be printed in plastic and this time the printed piece looked vastly superior to what was produced by the other company, so I went ahead with all 10 pieces.

The company is called Mediacopy and this is the link to their own webpage. Their customer service was excellent and I'd thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking for a 3D print like this.

As you can see what I got was the 10 pieces I had asked for in white plastic, and they look excellent on their own, but I had decided at the outset that I wanted them to have a metallic gold / bronze like look. In the end I decided to do this to 5 and leave the other 5 as they were.

So out came the paint and brushes, below are a couple of photographs from the various stages, click on them (and all the pictures) to get larger versions.

While painting these I found it was actually quite nice to do something outside of the digital world for once !

So I finally arrive at LOST 2014 and gave them to Kelly, Jo and Jorge, there were also a few given out as a prize for the Barracks Notice Board competition (more of which later)

It was great fun to do, once I had worked out how to do it, and all I can say is the future is here and it involves 3D printing, I have a couple of great ideas for future projects.

I'll give the final word to Jo, who sent me this picture of her token back at home.

Dominion
Anyone seen the SyFy tv show Dominion ? I have seen the first few episodes and it looks really good

Here are a couple of items for those interested in the show, both with my version of the eye image that is seen in the pilot episode credits.

The version with the wings has a quote, also from the pilot.

Doctor Who - Siege Of The TARDIS
So Peter Capaldi's first year as the Doctor is nearly at an end, it has been quite a ride

There have been some fantastic moments in this series, and some quite frankly dodgy plot holes and pseudo science. I know it is Science Fiction but without a decent grounding in the science part the fiction part quite often fails.

Anyway mini rant over, I did love the new siege mode TARDIS and wanted to try and create something featuring it, so I came up with this poster idea, sort of inspired by a cheap 80's straight to video movie.

Featuring the siege mode TARDIS and a background of cogs taken from the new opening credits.
I also created this icon version of the design if you want to use it on social media, if you use it just tell people where you got it.

Click on both the images to get the full size versions.

LOST - Drive Shaft - Not going to Guam Tour 2014
So after LOST 2014 and the emotional highs and lows that the even gave me I thought it was time to share a couple of things that were created for the event.

If you were at LOST 2014 in Hawaii recently you may have seen me wandering around in a few of my own t-shirts (I still get a kick out of saying I was there !)

One of those t-shirts you wouldn’t have seen before and that’s because I wanted to take something that I knew no one else would have.

A lot of you commented and very kindly said how cool it was so I decided to put it onto my Cafepress store for those that want it.

So what is it ? Well it isn’t specifically about any moment in the show I just decided I wanted to create a Drive Shaft tour t-shirt, you could consider it a flash sideways kind of a thing.

I named the tour the “Not going to Guam” tour in honor of Lapidus and it features fairly prominently the Jughead, the Drive Shaft guitar logo, a few other rock and roll staples and no I won’t say who the sillhouette of the woman is based on ;-)

The shirt on CP is actually a front and back print, on the back is the little DHARMA / Yin Yang / lightning burst symbol.

Link to my CafePress store

and just to prove I wore it, here is a picture of me in Hawaii, hiding from a smoke monster in a Banyan tree.

Sontaran Clone Wars On Sale
A few years after I created it, but this doctor Who / Star Wars The clone Wars mashup design is finally for sale.

I have opened a Tee Public store and this is the first product on it.

LOST 2014 - An Epic Journey
IMG_5180Back from LOST 2014 now and have reflected a lot on what happened, it was a few weeks of utter highs and one very sad low.

To touch on the low for a moment, it was heart wrenching to learn of Bonnie Craft's passing moments before boarding our plane back to the UK, we had seen bonnie a couple of times briefly during the stay in Hawaii and I can't imagine what life is going to be like without her for her family and friends. She was so supportive of me personally and all I can say is I will miss her so much.

During the stay in Hawaii we saw some of the most beautiful sights and places I have ever seen and with the link to LOST it was pretty much a perfect place to be.

The picture above is a sunrise on the morning after LOST 2014 finished, it was well worth getting up very early to drive over to the East side of the island to witness it.

All the photographs from the trip can be found on my Flickr site Z70 photos

Hawaii 2014At the event we got to meet Jorge Garcia of course and he is a genuinely lovely person to talk to, he signed my poster and another artwork which I will mention in a later update on this site.

Talking of the poster, do you remember back in September 2013 I was a joint winner in the LOST 2014 competition to design a logo. Kelly, the fantastic organiser of the event, decided to print my design as a small poster and include it in the gift bag for every attendee of LOST 2014.

I can safely say that this is the biggest run of any poster design I have ever created !

Hawaii 2014One of the other designs I created for the competition a year ago was this one based on the McCutcheon whiskey bottle label and on the night of the Cancer Gets LOST charity auction both Paul and I wore our t-shirt version and held the replica bottle that was in the auction.
Hawaii 2014You can see al the photographs by using the link above, but one final thing to bring things full circle, this is me on Hurley's Golf course which we visited on one of the island tours and this was actually my prize for winning the competition a year ago !

Independent State of Eyebrows
The new series of Doctor Who has started ! With a new Doctor !

I'm undecided on the first episode whether I'm fully on board the Capaldi train or not, but the next few weeks will be interesting.

During this first episode there was a quote by the 1st doctor about his eyebrows, so in the spirit of my Doctor Who quotes project I thought I would create something to mark the occasion.

If you don't read Latin the motto is "Attack with the Eyebrows"

It is now available in my Redbubble store in case you missed it a few months ago when it was printed by daily t-shirt site Tee Tournament

LOST Quotes T-Shirt
With the upcoming trip to LOST 2014 on the horizon I have created a couple of t-shirt designs featuring my favourite show.

The first features the famous Jack Live Together Die Alone speech.

The second is a little more obscure, but a big part of LOST mythology, the glasses that are part of the design give the clue, as it is from the Room 23 scene.

In that scene, in amongst the noise and flashing images there is a voice played backwards that says "Only fools are enslaved by time and space"

I have put these designs in various places for purchase or voting, so here are the details of where to look -

Penny Dreadful - Brewsters Wild west Show
The new HBO series Penny Dreadful looks like it has some promise.

I created this t-shirt design after the first episode and it is up for voting on Qwertee

Any votes will be very much appreciated.

Almost Human Comic
This is something I created around the start of the TV show Almost Human, but forgot to post it to this website

It is my version of a comic book cover announcing the show starting.

Also included here is a small icon I created to show support for almost Human on the sad news that it wasn't being renewed.

Fans of the show will know what it is all about

Revolution Season 3 ?
We were left with a mystery, what would happen in the town with electricity and the creepy clown face ?

Unfortunately we may never know as Revolution has been cancelled !

While I was waiting for news about season 3 I created my version of the clown face.

24 Free Information Movement
This is my recreation of the Free Information Movement logo used in the new mini 24 series - Live Another Day.

Friend
John Noble had been such a delight playing Walter Bishop in Fringe, and this short film produced by his daughter and him came out shortly after Fringe ended.

I created this very quickly just to show support for the film.

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Slingshot
A poster created for the Marvel TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

This was a sweet moment early on in the first season, and I wanted to capture the moment.

It is available as a limited edition poster in my web store

Zombie Season
When watching The Walking Dead last week I tweeted "Time for The Walking Dead. Shhhh be very very quiet I'm hunting zombies". This then triggered a few thoughts about Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd and this is the result.

The t-shirt version is now up for voting on Qwertee

Sleepy Hollow 2nd Seal
A quick recreation of the 2nd seal broken by Henry in the dramatic season 1 finale.

I think I have got the inscription around the edge correct as it isn't 100% clear. If you think it is different please let me know.

LOST MacCutcheon 10 Year Anniversary
It is LOST's 10 year anniversary, and there are lots of things being lined up for this year.

Including of course LOST 2014 which I designed the bottle logo for that is available via the LOST2014 website.

As part of the competition for the logo I also designed an anniversary MacCutcheon whisky label, this wasn't chosen, but that give me an opportunity to update it and transform it.

This I have done and the result is shown here.

As this was already intended for a t-shirt design I have uploaded it to Qwertee and a few other t-shirt websites. I'd really appreciate it if you could vote for it so it could be available in time for the anniversary

If you really can't wait for then the image is available on my CafePress store in the LOST section (of course !)

I asked a couple of friends to use the CP store to order a couple of the items and you can see the results below, first are four t-shirts, mine are the two on the right, the ones on the left contain the other winning LOST 2014 logo. The image on the right is of a large drinking glass with the design.

The #seeeekrits are out ! you might have seen if you follow me on Twitter that just before the LOST Paleyfest panel a fan dinner was held during which miniature whisky bottles and shot glasses with the label were handed out to the guests.

A bifg thanks to Paul (@TK10815) for suggesting, organising and arranging everything !

Almost Human Fan Campaign
As some of you may be aware Almost Human, the US TV show about a future cop and his Android partner has been left in a kind of limbo.

A group of fans are getting together to make a little noise and make sure the powers that be know there is lots of support out there for this TV gem.

I have designed a few things over the last few weeks and I have created two more for this campaign, the first are these cards with all of the major characters and one special one of John Kennex in his White Chettah Roar pose.

This collage version is just a collection of all the cards and there colour variations that looked realtively pleasing to me.

The second image here is my version of the present Dorian gives to John in the final scene of season 1. Use it wherever you want to, online or there is a twibbon version on the Almost Human Task Force Fan Art Matrix

Read more about the project at the Almost Human Task Force Blog

Almost Human Lives Promotional Material
The final episode of Almost Human is upon us and we want to make sure that fans show their support.

I have created this icon, based on the mermaid neon sign you can see in the future cityscape and the two posters below.

Read more about it at morethanoneofeverything.net and download the images from the Almost Human Task Force Art Matrix.

Helix Poster
A poster I created at the end of the 1st season of the TV Show Helix

NIGHT NIGHT S.H.I.E.L.D.
While watching the most recent episode of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. I had an idea to create a t-shirt design based on the Night Night gun that Fitz and Simmons invented.

The initial idea was to create an advert for the gun with the Fitz-Simmons gun company.

The result was this, not exactly an advert, more of a statement.

I created the Fitz-Simmons logo based around the Embrace the Change quote that Fitz said a few episodes ago.

The design has been uploaded to Qwertee and has just been accepted, so if you have a moment and you like the design I'd really appreciate a vote.

As an added bonus for those reading and in case you missed these when I posted them on Twitter recently, here are another couple of AoS related designs.

The first is a recreation of the SHIELD Science Academy logo, and the second is my attempt at a logo for the Boiler Room club, incorporating some of the Avengers members logos.

If you want to use them yourselves as social media icons etc, then click on them for the larger versions.

The Patriot Orange Co,
A quick icon for Revolution

Just in case you haven't seen the episodes yet I won't spoil anything, but this will make sense once you have seen them.

I though the tag line was quite appropriate, in a creepy sort of way.

Fringe Anniversary
On the 18th of January 2013 the little show that could ended, at least for now ;-)

Fringe was a special part of my TV history in all sorts of ways and I wanted to do something to mark the moment.

The good folk at @FringeFridayNet let us know about an event on the 18th of January this year to get #WeRememberFringe trending at some point on the day.

I decided a few days ago that I wanted to create something to mark the occasion, and here you see the end result. There is of course a red version and a blue version :-)

This design went through several versions and I played around with which characters to use until I settled on this combination. (Sorry Broyles fans)

I have made the poster available in my limited editions store as a limited open edition. Which means it will be available for sale for 1 week starting today and ending on the 25th of January 2014, so how ever many posters sell that will be the edition size.

For early birds the first 10 orders will get a bonus fringe icon print that isn't available anywhere else.

It will be interesting to see if the red or the blue poster sells more !

Talking of icons it wouldn't be a Fringe twitter event without an icon, so I created this icon version based on the poster, click on each one to see the large version.

Sleepy Hollow Headless Horseman Tattoo Icon
I have been enjoying the odd but very watchable Sleepy Hollow

I wanted to create a small icon as I usually do for things I like and this was the first thing that I thought of when wondering what to do.

It is the Headless Horseman's tattoo surrounded by the leather head gear.

We are still waiting for the second half of the season in the UK, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens.

Time of The Doctor Poster
After watching this episode a couple of times, I'm convinced it tried to cram a years worth of story into 60 minutes.

However I don't think it is totally without merit and gave us some great moments if not a cohesive and complete story.

Anyway since watching it, and actually before when I saw the promo pictures, I thought about a poster incorporating the clock face from the tower.

In the end it ended up by being the view from inside the tower looking out through the snow of Christmas at the crack in the universe.

This was just for fun and isn't available anywhere, but I have submitted a t-shirt version to TeeBusters so if you have a moment please vote.

As none of the daily t-shirt sites have taken it up yet I have put a t-shirt version up for sale on my Redbubble store

John Watsons Stag Night
After the second episode of Sherlock series 3 I thought Sherlock might have been too busy to get Stag night t-shirts created, so I did it for him.

Featuring the preferred drinking vessel marked with the appropriate fill amount, a small map of the route and a subtle reminder of John's middle name.

This has been uploaded to Qwertee, and also to TeeBusters so if you have a moment please head on over and vote.

I Dont Shave For Sherlock Holmes

Mary told me to do it !

Yes moments after the first episode of the 3ed series had finished I started creating the t-shirt design.

The result is this.

Added to my Red Bubble store

Snips T-Shirt
Quite a while ago I created a Star Wars the clone wars t-shirt design based on Ahsoka Tano, aka Snips.

It didn't get voted highly enough on the various t-shirt sites, and I had in truth not thought about it for a while.

Then a few days ago someone contacted me to ask if it was for sale anywhere. It wasn't but this prompted me to make it available.

So if you now look on my Red Bubble store you can see it. Direct link

**UPDATE ** - I have recently created a new version of this to go along with Star Wars Rebels, Click here to see the new version

Almost Human Fan Video
I have been merrily creating a few short animated sequences for the Almost Human Fan video remake, here is the full remake -

Below is all the bits I contributed in one video -

All of The Almost Human Fan Video Animations from zort70 on Vimeo.

Almost Human 50 Shades Of Purple
A quick poster idea based on the slightly disturbing image of the inside of Dorian's head in the third episode of Almost Human to be broadcast.

Any similarities to another famous work involving shades of another colour is complete coincidental ;-)

SG1 Ready For Action
I have been playing around with this Stargate based design for some time but finally found a moment to finish it.

The idea was that all you could see was the event horizon of the gate and a silhouette of the SG1 team ready to go through.

I created it for a t-shirt and that is now uploaded to Qwertee, so if you have a spare moment please head on over and vote.

Almost Human Countdown
It is a couple of weeks until Almost Human debuts in the US, so to remind you when here is a handy count down.

The graphics were designed by me but the genius behind the code to animate everything is Nikolai Svakhin - @Nikolai3d on twitter.

You can see this and much more fantastic Almost Human art on the Almost Human Task force website.

Almost Human
You may not be aware but starting soon in the US is a new TV show called Almost Human.

It is being produced by J.J.Abrams (Bad Robot) and J.H.Wyman, who also was the show runner for Fringe.

Set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids, a human cop is partnered with a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.

A whole host of Hollywood actors and action aplenty this should be a fantastic TV show to watch.

So now to explain what this, and the icons below are, as you might recall I created quite a few icons for Fringe during it's final two seasons to help promote the show.

There are a few like minded souls from the Fringe days that appreciate what Joel Wyman and Bad Robot did for Fringe and we want to support this new show as much as possible.

So we have started creating things and promoting on social media where we can to help spread the word.

The image above is a small promotional banner to state the date (in US format for those Brits who are reading this). It is based on a machine seen in the promo videos which appears to help switch on the android police officer.

Below are four icons, one is an icon version of above, one is based on the police dept logo seen in the promos.

One is a little sneaky as it is a logo for an electricity company seen in a behind the scenes photo shoot, and the final one is one I created before even seeing a trailer which as a mechanical hand reaching out to a human hand, which I am assured has some significance in the show.

You can see these and many more icons that are free to use on Twitter and elsewhere on the Almost Human Icon Matrix which is being tested right now - Click here to see the Almost human icon matrix
