The space shuttle fleet is about to retire and I wanted to celebrate / commemorate the fantastic achievement that the space shuttle represents.
When I first thought about producing a design featuring the Space Shuttle I wanted to show that there may be many fictional space vehicles around, but the shuttle is a human made vehicle in reality that fires the imagination.
I then had the idea of creating a pack / suit of cards design featuring other space ships, with the Shuttle being the ace.
Instead of simply using the normal card names, and to geek it up a little more, I decided to use the Stargate symbols on the cards, which I chose at random except on the shuttle card, which of course has the symbol for earth.

The eagle eyed among you will probably be now saying 11 ? but there are 12 spaceships surrounding the shuttle. Yes you are right, two of the spaceships are actually related.
When I was creating the design, I wanted to represent as many different sci fi / fantasy franchises and spaceship types as possible. However one spaceship that features, and is a type that I really wanted to feature, is linked to one of the others and although technically not exactly the same TV show is represented the link is there.
