Iron Man 3 T-Shirt Design - Tony The Mechanic


We saw Iron Man 3 in the UK last week and as soon as I heard the words Tony The Mechanic, I knew I had to create this.

Using garage / repair shop signs and adverts as my inspiration I came up with this that hopefully will appeal to Iron Man fans.

New TARDIS Roundel Icon
Since the new TARDIS interior made it's debut at Christmas I had noticed the new multicoloured roundels that are dotted all over the console room.

It wasn't until Journey To The Centre Of The TARDIS that we got a decent look at them so I thought I would have a go at creating my version, and here it is.

It is a 5 colour design as all the gradients use halftones, I have got an idea for a t-shirt design that will incorporate this so expect to see that soon :-)
Nerdfest Comic Con Nottingham
I'm very happy and terrified to announce that I will be attending my first Comic Con as an artist !



This is a new event for the UK and will be held in Nottingham on October 5th 2013 - Read more about the event here and you can follow @Nerdfestcc on twitter for all the latest details.

What I will be taking to Nottingham for people to look at and purchase is a mystery to me at the moment, but I will be formulating plans soon.
Defiance Lawkeeper Badge
This is my first attempt at a Definance Lawkeeper badge

Just in case you haven't seen it yet the new SyFy show is about a future Earth that has been invaded, fought back and now living side by side with alien races on what remains of the planet

It is a fairly interesting scifi concept with lots of potential for stories about that new world, although I can't help feeling I've seen the basics before. Possibly borrowed a little from Terra Nova, Alien Nation, and a few others.

Anyway I liked it enough to attempt this, but I think it needs some work.

Doctor Who - Help Me

The Sontaran Clone Wars
In a galaxy far far away the Sontarans are cloning themselves to fight a wars against the old republic...of the Rutans.

I have added this design to the TeePublic website, the way this site works is that if 30 people to want to buy this and then TeePublic will then print it using DTG technology.
Doctor Who - The Rings of Akhaten
From episode 2 of the second half of new Doctor Who's seventh series (yes it's confusing isn't it) I saw this symbol and thought I would have a go at recreating it.

The one on the right was created first based on a very blurry promotional image, the one on the left was updated after the episode had aired.

Howver even within the episode there seem to be several variations so there isn't one version that will be correct.

Make Human Reality
We all know how much the Fringe community gathered together to support our show, well how about doing it for another show before it has even been aired !

The very talented paring of Joel Wyman and Bryan Burk have a new pilot in production called "Human", and to show support for the pilot in the hope that it will make a full series the Fringenuity team have been hard at work looking at how social media can help make that happen.

So this is my small contribution, an icon with the hash tag "MakeHumanReality" that anyone can use to show support or even just ask questions about the tv show.

Bear in mind though that no one has any real answers as this is so new !

Also here is another icon showing my interpretation of a symbol from the TV show that was first shown in some behind the scenes pictures posted by YVR Shoots.

Hopefully you can see the center element is the reason the "Bells of St John" got their name :-)

Doctor Who Quotes - Fourth Doctor
I know it's not quite April yet, but as there is a new episode of Doctor Who tonight this seemed like the perfect time to present the fourth doctor's quote.

You won't know how difficult it was to choose just one quote for the fourth doc, but that was my criteria I set myself at the start and that's what I'm sticking with.

I did bend one of my own criteria and have used more colours than I was going to but with that scarf I think it was absolutely necessary !

The quote is, in my view, the ultimate dilemma for a time traveller, do I create a paradox and destroy what I know, or do I leave the causality of time and space alone as good can come from evil.

DW Quotes - Third Doctor
It's March already, so here is the third Doctor Who quote poster

Apart from the quote typography, I wanted to include Bessie, the third Doctor's "borrowed" earthly method of transport, and after creating the image of Bessie that's where the road idea popped into my mind.

Not an epic world saving line from The Doctor, but one of my favourite quotes that can apply to any circumstance, earthly or otherwise.

For now I'll leave you all to work out what the various other symbols mean, I might run a competition at some point so start working on them.
Unexpected Item
What ever the unexpected item in the bagging area is you wouldn't expect it to be the Spanish Inquisition !

I have been working on this for a while now, I had the idea bout 4 months ago but only got the time to work on it recently.

I've always loved Monty Python since I was old enough to understand it and this episode has to be one of my all time favourites.

I always had the idea of putting this forward as a t-shirt design so I have uploaded it to Qwertee, so please head over there and vote


Born Free Tour Poster
I decided to create an alternative tour poster for the Brian May and Kerry Ellis Born Free tour.

I'll have to print a copy out just for me and see if I can get them to sign it as I'm going to one of the shows on my Birthday :-)

Bad Robot Jedi - Size Matters Not


For no real reason other than I thought it would be an interesting challenge for me, and I thought the idea was cool, I came up with this.

JJ Abrams is down to direct the next Star Wars film, so I thought that his Bad Robot needed to feel the force and become a Jedi.

Since I posted this, the image was used by the very cool /Film blog on their Star Wars reporting page today.

As it's the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who I thought I'd give myself a little challenge.

I am going to create 11 posters, one for each of the doctors.

Each poster will be of a quote from the doctor and hopefully contain an element or two of DW history to make things more interesting.
